Discover the world of enamelling in this inspiring two-day course, designed especially for absolute beginners. Starting from the very basics, you will be guided through the fundamentals of enamelling in a friendly and supportive environment. There will only be three students on this course. On the first day, you will explore the different types of enamel and a wide range of application techniques. You will learn how to prepare both enamel and copper, before applying enamel using traditional sieving methods. Using hammers, stencils, and a rolling mill, you will experiment with adding texture and pattern to your copper surfaces. You will also be introduced to a variety of firing techniques, from hand-held torches to creative overfiring in the kiln. On the second day, you will build on your skills by exploring more expressive approaches, including applying enamel in a watercolour style and working with wet packing techniques. By the end of the course, you will have a strong foundation in enamelling and the confidence to continue developing your own creative work.
